VIN'S ARMY

At the age of 37, Vinit Singh was achieving his lifelong dreams.  He was newly married, excelling in his career, and had just bought his dream house near the beach in Los Angeles.  He loved nothing more than to spend time with his family and friends and to cheer on the Texas Longhorns.  Vin was a smart, charismatic, fearless and big hearted man and he was loved and respected by many.  However, his world was completely changed in June of 2016 when he was diagnosed with Stage IV metastatic gastric cancer.

Throughout his battle, he maintained a positive, brave outlook and was an inspiration for his family, community, and friends as he used his story to encourage others to be proactive about their health – to get routine screenings, eat healthy, exercise, and to be good to your body.   Even as he fought through the chemotherapy and all of the life changing side effects, he still participated in 5ks and regularly worked out and exercised.  In the infusion room, he entertained all of the oncology nurses, danced during chemo sessions, and encouraged every fellow patient to use their mental strength to push through and still enjoy life to the fullest.

He knew that he wanted to bring about awareness of the disease and reach out to as many people as possible and encourage them to be better, live better, and make wise decisions about their health, so that they would never be faced with the same journey that he and his wife were on.  And that’s how Vin’s Army was born.  Through his pages on social media, he was able to document the journey, his feelings, and day to day trials and tribulations to bring hope, strength, courage, and inspiration to so many people.  He had such tenacity that his fight became a fight for everyone.

Vin passed away on February 6, 2018 after a courageous 18 month fight against cancer.  He created a legacy that carried him through his battle and left behind a team that is now spreading his message and positivity.  We are Vin’s Army.
